DAILWIND / RESEARCH DESKS
Parallel Text Aligner
Line up a source text and its translation sentence by sentence, review the least certain rows, then export a bilingual table or TMX translation memory.
Align, then merge or split any row marked “check”.
Download TSV, CSV or TMX 1.4.
Add text or try the sample. Everything runs on this device; nothing is uploaded.
Add both versions.
Line breaks and paragraph breaks always end a sentence. Works for any language pair, including Urdu, Arabic, Chinese and Japanese punctuation.
Aligned sentences.
Highlighted rows are the least certain matches (non 1-to-1, or the highest 15% of costs). Lower cost means a better length fit.
Method & interpretation.
Alignment uses the length-based method of Gale & Church (1993): sentence lengths in letters and digits are compared against the overall length ratio of the two texts, allowing 1–1, 1–2, 2–1, 2–2 and unmatched sentences. No dictionary is used, so check rows where whole sentences were added or dropped.
